Petit Futé 2026 commentary on Château de Castelneau
![]()
«This is an ideal place for lovers of peace and quiet and wide open spaces. Owned by Diane and Loïc de Roquefeuil for nine generations, Château de Castelneau is a magnificent building hidden behind fortifications. Loïc will be delighted to show you around. In the space of an hour, he will talk about the history of his family and the château, the region, the architecture, his winemaking techniques and the difficulty he has in trimming his four hedges, to which he has given his children's first names to make his task less thankless... This jack-of-all-trades is fascinating. The walk ends with a tasting of the estate's wines (Bordeaux supérieur, Clairet and Entre-deux-mers). And if you'd like to stay a while, the couple have two gîtes and chambres d'hôtes for rent, next to the château. All have en-suite bathrooms, a charming rustic feel and lovely views over the property. The property is crossed by the Roger Lapébie cycle path, so cyclists are very welcome. This is another lovely location for organising your private or business events.»
